Overwatering vs Underwatering: How to Tell the Difference
Wilting does not always mean a plant needs more water. Before watering again, check the soil depth, pot weight, leaf texture, and stem firmness.
Signs of overwatering
Wet soil, yellow lower leaves, soft stems, fungus gnats, and a heavy pot usually point toward too much water or poor drainage.
Signs of underwatering
Dry soil, crispy edges, curled leaves, and a very light pot usually mean the plant has gone too long without water.
Change one thing at a time
Adjust watering frequency, light, potting mix, or pot size gradually. A care journal helps connect each change with the plant's response.
